Jackson police said two men were arrested in Louisiana in connection with a murder case.
Police said U.S. marshals arrested Johnny Ray Wilson, 25, and J'Marcus Moore, 37, Thursday night.
The arrests came a day after the Jackson Police Department said the stolen car Wilson was believed to be driving was found in Louisiana.
In addition to a murder charge, Wilson also faces aggravated assault and kidnapping charges. Moore, 37, who police said was Wilson's accomplice, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping and auto theft.
Police said they found Anthony Turner dead early Wednesday morning at a home on Maria Drive in Jackson. Police said all of the men knew each other and were involved in "some type of dating relationship," Cmdr. Tyree Jones said.
“Based on the investigation thus far, there was an altercation that occurred inside the residence at 1503 Maria Drive between the victim and the suspect, Johnny Ray Wilson. During the course of this altercation, allegedly, Johnny Ray Wilson produced a handgun and shot the victim in the head," Jones said.
Wilson and Moore are accused of kidnapping another man at the house, Lamonte Gibson, 39, and driving him in Turner's vehicle to Monroe, Louisiana, and dropping Gibson off at a hospital. Gibson had been shot in the hip, police said.
“We believe that J’Marcus Moore and Johnny Ray Wilson acted in concert together after the death of the victim," Jones said. "They both acted in concert as it relates to shooting the individual that was taken to the hospital. They both kidnapped him from what we understand, and they both took the victim’s car and drove it to Monroe, Louisiana, where they dropped him off at the hospital."
Both Moore and Wilson are being held in Louisiana and are awaiting extradition.
